NIGERIAN-AMERICAN ENGINEER CHALLENGES N152M REFUND ORDER OVER LAGOS APARTMENTS

Nigerian-American engineer Anthony Ehiedu Ugbebor has approached the Court of Appeal in Lagos, seeking to overturn a High Court judgment ordering him to refund N152 million over two luxury Victoria Island apartments. Sahara Reporters reports that Ugbebor is challenging the June 15, 2026 ruling, insisting the trial court wrongly held that the property agreement had been extinguished through novation.

He argued the court misapplied contract law, ignored key evidence and wrongly dismissed his counterclaim for completion and handover of the apartments, adding that payment obligations were tied to construction milestones rather than fixed dates.

Ugbebor maintained he had paid about 80 per cent of the purchase price and urged the appellate court to restore the contract, compel Oak Homes to honour its obligations, and set aside the judgment in its entirety.
