CBN Warns Against Rejecting N100 Note

The naira note wars continue. The CBN has warned against rejecting the standard N100 banknote, insisting it remains valid legal tender, according to Peoples Gazette.

Spokesperson Hakama Sidi Ali clarified that the commemorative N100 note, introduced for Nigeria’s centenary, did not replace the standard version — both must be accepted for transactions nationwide.

The apex bank warned that rejecting the standard note violates the CBN Act and threatens confidence in the naira, cautioning that enforcement measures await violators.

“The Bank will not hesitate to apply appropriate enforcement measures against any person or entity found to be in breach,” Sidi Ali said, urging Nigerians to accept all duly issued banknotes.
