Fake council scandal deepens as Adeyemi denies meeting Gbajabiamila face-to-face

Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, embattled DG of the fictitious PFIPC, denied ever meeting Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila in person, saying he could neither confirm nor rule out his involvement in the scandal.

The Director General of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, has denied ever meeting Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, one-on-one — even as he stopped short of clearing his name entirely.

Speaking from an undisclosed location in a video obtained Tuesday, Vanguard reports that Adeyemi told social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkBlackMan (VDM), that he had no face-to-face meeting with Gbajabiamila. He said all contact happened by phone, through a now-deceased intermediary identified as Dolapo Tanimola.

Pressed on how he could be certain it was actually Gbajabiamila on those calls, Adeyemi admitted it was never a video call, conceding “anybody could have collected that phone.” He also agreed that every transaction tied to the alleged scandal ran through his late friend.

When VDM suggested it was possible the Chief of Staff genuinely wasn’t involved, Adeyemi responded, “Of course! Yes.” Asked directly whether Gbajabiamila might be lying or simply unaware of the fraud, Adeyemi said he couldn’t say either way — which he claimed is exactly why he’s called on President Tinubu to launch an investigation.

The interview comes roughly 72 hours after Gbajabiamila’s legal team, led by Kemi Pinheiro, threatened Adeyemi with legal action over his earlier claims. At a June 25 press briefing, Adeyemi had accused the Chief of Staff of demanding 48 per cent of PFIPC’s alleged ₦27.4 billion take-off grant — about ₦12.5 billion — and separately pocketing ₦400 million tied to appointments linked to the agency.

Adeyemi is currently standing trial over his role in running the council, which the Presidency insists does not exist. His case has been adjourned to July 14, 2026, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
