A northern political group has endorsed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for the 2027 presidential election, declaring him its preferred candidate and launching a campaign to rally support across the North, according to Nigerian Tribune.

The group said the endorsement followed consultations with stakeholders who believe Makinde has the leadership qualities needed to govern Nigeria. The organisation pledged to begin grassroots mobilisation in the 19 northern states, urging Nigerians across political, ethnic and religious divides to support Makinde’s presidential ambition.

It also called on other interest groups to join what it described as a movement for national unity and development. The endorsement is part of ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with consultations and support campaigns gathering momentum across the country.
