Tinubu Hails Soyinka at 92
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka on his 92nd birthday, calling him “one of our nation’s living repositories of history, knowledge, and courage,” according to The Nation.
Tinubu recalled Soyinka’s 1986 Nobel Prize win, his decades-long resistance against military dictatorship, and their shared role in the June 12 democracy struggle.
Human rights activist Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin also honoured Soyinka, calling his life “a summary of Nigeria’s tempestuous history” and describing him as the nation’s “permanent Ambassador plenipotentiary” in global letters.
