The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it will begin the sale of nomination forms for aspirants seeking to contest in the 2027 general elections from Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Durosinmi Meseko, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the 186th meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja. He said the development is contained in the party’s revised timetable and schedule of activities.
Meseko noted that the timetable outlines key processes leading to the primaries and urged interested aspirants to comply with all guidelines.
Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval for $516.3m Loan for Sokoto-Badagry Highway
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested Senate approval for a $516.3 million loan to fund sections of the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway project.
In a letter read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President said the loan would finance Sections 1, Phase 1a and 1b of the 1,000-kilometre road linking Nigeria’s North-West to the South-West.
Tinubu explained that the project would span multiple states and is backed by a syndicated loan from Deutsche Bank, with additional federal funding for land acquisition and infrastructure.
Labour Party Rules Out Obi’s Return for 2027 Ticket
The Labour Party has ruled out the possibility of its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, returning to secure its ticket for the 2027 election.
The party’s interim caretaker committee chairperson, Nenadi Usman, stated during a television appearance that it would be too late for Obi to rejoin after leaving for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Usman said party rules require closure of the register 21 days before primaries, adding that no candidate would be allowed to join through the “back door.”

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has pleaded not guilty to charges of allegedly intercepting communications belonging to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
The Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned El-Rufai before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a five-count amended charge.
Presiding Judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, heard that the charges were updated from an earlier three-count filing, which was subsequently struck out.
