Peter Obi, former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has restated that he will not serve as a running mate in the 2027 general election. Speaking on Sunday during an X Spaces conversation, Obi dismissed reports linking him to a joint ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His comments follow rising calls for an opposition alliance to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Obi rejected claims that he planned to run for vice president, citing his leadership preparation and political experience. “I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice President,” he said. “I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President.” He added, “Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.”
