Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 17 games after a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in a feisty London derby. Chelsea took the lead shortly after halftime through Trevoh Chalobah following a corner, but Arsenal, reduced to ten men after Moises Caicedo’s red card for a studs-up challenge on Merino, responded well. Mikel Merino headed in a precise cross from Bukayo Saka to level the score in the 58th minute. Despite chances at both ends, neither team could find a winner.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta brought on Martin Ødegaard and Noni Madueke to push for the equaliser, which eventually came. “We came from one goal down to earn a draw at Stamford Bridge and move five points clear at the top of the table,” the report noted. Arsenal will next host Brentford before travelling to Aston Villa.
