FG Returns 13 Oil Blocks to Licensing Basket
Not every block found a buyer. The Federal Government has confirmed that 13 of the 50 oil and gas blocks put up in the 2025 Licensing Round didn’t attract a single bid.
According to PUNCH Online, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, made the disclosure Tuesday at the 2025 Commercial Bid Conference in Abuja. Only 37 of the 50 blocks received representations from investors, she said, with 143 companies submitting roughly 200 bids.
Nearly 300 companies initially showed interest before the field narrowed through prequalification to 196, then to the final bidders.
