Steroids, bloated bellies, bought babies” — Ex-NAPTIP DG exposes fake pregnancy scam

A former NAPTIP boss has alleged that some Nigerian women use steroids and fake surgery scars to deceive husbands into believing they gave birth.

How Women Buy Babies To Fool Husbands — Okah-Donli

Former Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Julie Okah-Donli, made the claims during an appearance on the Kaa Truths Podcast, a clip of which resurfaced on Tuesday, Nigerian Tribune reports.

She alleged that women are injected with steroids that bloat their faces and stomachs, mimicking pregnancy, while faking morning sickness when husbands are nearby.

According to her, babies are often introduced only after arranging for husbands to be away, with some women even undergoing procedures to fake caesarean scars.

Okah-Donli called for mandatory maternity tests alongside paternity tests to expose such cases, noting that many women falsely claim multiple births to ease the deception.
