An Air Peace Airbus A320 was damaged at Lagos airport after a NAHCO baggage vehicle struck its engine when the operator reportedly slumped at the controls.
NAHCO Vehicle Rams Air Peace Plane, Operator Hospitalised
An Air Peace Airbus A320 is out of service after a ground collision at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, Lagos, the airline confirmed Wednesday, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
A baggage conveyor belt vehicle run by NAHCO slammed into the aircraft’s engine on Tuesday, moments after Flight P47427 from Kano landed and passengers disembarked. The impact left the engine badly damaged and the plane unserviceable, forcing Air Peace to scramble its schedule.
Some flights face delays, others cancellation, the airline said, apologising to affected travellers while its teams arrange alternatives.
The NAHCO staffer operating the vehicle reportedly slumped before the crash and is receiving medical treatment; the person’s identity remains unconfirmed. Air Peace says it is working with NAHCO and aviation authorities to probe the cause.
