Exam day turned into a nightmare in Kogi State. Attackers stormed a school in the Dekina council area on Tuesday at about 5:25 p.m., abducting the principal, four students, and a NECO ad hoc staff member right in the middle of ongoing exams, according to a statement by police spokesperson Salisu Oyiza released Wednesday, PEOPLES GAZETTE reports.
Security operatives swung into action immediately, launching a search-and-rescue mission that’s still trailing the assailants. One student has already been rescued, Oyiza confirmed, while efforts continue to free the rest.
Police Commissioner Naziru Kankarofi and the governor’s security adviser were both heading to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
