Parents Await Reunion With Rescued Oyo Schoolchildren At LAUTECH
Parents and relatives of pupils and teachers rescued from captivity in Oyo State’s Oriire Local Government Area gathered at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso on Tuesday, awaiting reunion with their loved ones, according to Vanguard.
The 39 pupils and seven teachers, including a school principal, were abducted on May 15 after suspected Ansaru gunmen attacked three schools in Yawota and Ahoro-Esiele. They were released on July 10 following a joint military, police and intelligence operation that eliminated some terrorists and led to eight arrests.
Governor Seyi Makinde formally received the rescued victims on Monday, describing their return as a major relief for the state after weeks of uncertainty over their safety.
