TINUBU KNOWS — AND DOESN’T MIND: ADEBAYO
SDP presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo has made his most explosive allegation yet against the Tinubu administration — and he named the president directly.
Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV published on Saturday, Adebayo stated flatly: “It’s obvious that President Tinubu knows very well and doesn’t mind that people pay money to his principal staff to get appointments and to get access.”
The presidential candidate went further, dismantling what he described as the administration’s institutional framework with characteristic bluntness: “It’s a clearing and forwarding government. The Senate does not exist because the Senate president is the senior special assistant to the president of Nigeria on comedy, MC and ceremonial openings. The Senate has lost its leadership. There is a decapitation of the Senate.”
Adebayo’s remarks arrive amid fierce public outrage over bribery allegations levelled by Presidential Economic Advisory Council director Adeniyi Adeyemi against Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila. Adeyemi alleged at a press conference that Gbajabiamila collected N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million to secure his appointment. The presidency dismissed Adeyemi’s claims, calling his agency fictitious — despite evidence that the agency received budget funding and maintained office space in the Federal Secretariat.
President Tinubu has since ordered the ICPC to investigate Gbajabiamila and others allegedly involved in the scandal. Tinubu’s spokespersons Bayo Onanuga and Daniel Bwala had not responded to requests for comment on Adebayo’s allegations at the time of reporting.
