Military confirms Lieutenant killed in rescue of Oyo pupils, teachers

Military sources have confirmed that Lieutenant F.A. Isaac was killed in action during the July 10 operation that rescued 44 abducted pupils and teachers from Old Oyo National Park, where they had been held captive since their abduction from Oriire Local Government Area on or about June 6, 2026.

A Nigerian Army officer paid the ultimate price to bring 44 schoolchildren and teachers home.

Lieutenant F.A. Isaac was killed in action on July 10, 2026, during the coordinated security operation that rescued 44 abducted pupils and teachers from Old Oyo National Park, military source;ls confirmed. He was buried the same day.

The victims had been held captive for over a month following their abduction from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State on or about June 6. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier acknowledged that the military recorded a casualty during the rescue mission. Sources said Lieutenant Isaac was among the officers leading the operation when he was fatally wounded.
