First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerian musicians like Asake, Burna Boy, and Davido to establish charitable foundations to help the poor, rather than focusing solely on luxury purchases.
First Lady Tells Burna Boy, Davido: Give Back, Not Just Flex
Nice cars, sure — but where’s the charity? According to Tribune Online, Mrs Tinubu made the appeal Saturday at the launch of the National Community Food Bank in Kogi State, citing Akon as a model for celebrity philanthropy she wants Nigerian artistes to follow.
“Asake, Burna Boy, Davido, we want to see you with one foundation or the other, helping the poor with your money,” she said, adding that owning a Maybach or Rolls Royce isn’t wrong, but the government’s poverty-fighting burden remains heavy.
She also praised small businesses, recalling an Abuja graduate who turned to selling akara and now employs 12 workers after receiving support.
