You’ll enjoy reliable power supply in 2026, Adelabu assures Nigerians

The Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring reliable, accessible and sustainable electricity supply across the country in 2026. The assurance was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Mr Bolaji Tunji. According to the statement, Adelabu gave the pledge in his New Year message to Nigerians and the people of Oyo State, stressing that the government remains focused on delivering stable power to support households, industries and national development.

The minister said efforts in the new year would be driven by continuity and renewed vigour, with a strong emphasis on improving grid stability and expanding transmission infrastructure nationwide. He added that collaboration with Electricity Distribution Companies would be intensified to enhance service delivery and ensure metering initiatives reach all communities. Adelabu further disclosed that the Light Up Nigeria initiative would remain a key priority, with targeted interventions in industrial clusters and agricultural hubs to stimulate economic growth, boost productivity and create jobs. He expressed optimism that sustained reforms and strategic investments in the power sector would translate into improved electricity supply and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
