Safiya Mamman-Jemitola, widow of retired Major General Chris Jemitola, has accused police officers and unidentified individuals of forcibly entering her Abuja home. She claims the group, allegedly led by her late husband’s son Caleb Jemitola, broke down multiple doors while purportedly attempting to serve court documents. Mamman-Jemitola said the officers from the Nigeria Police Force did not properly identify themselves despite claiming to have a court bailiff present.
In posts on X published Monday evening, Mamman-Jemitola shared video evidence showing police breaking through security doors at the residence. “To the Nigeria Police @PoliceNG, how many of your men are required to serve a widow who has not had a moment’s rest to grief? This is the fourth time policemen are being used to harass and intimidate me,” she wrote. She also stated that her life has been threatened by Caleb Jemitola and his associates.
Chris Jemitola died in February after collapsing at the IBB Golf Club in Abuja. The retired general served as aide-de-camp to former President Olusegun Obasanjo from 2003 to 2007 and also held the position of director of public relations for the Nigerian Army. His widow has repeatedly reported harassment since his death.
