Video Update: Smoke continues to rise from one of the areas in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State following the recent U.S. airstrike.
Speaking to the BBC, the Chairman of Tangaza LGA, Isa Saleh Bashir, disclosed that the strike targeted remote bush routes and suspected terrorist hideouts within the area.
He stated that there was no confirmed information yet on the number of fatalities, but acknowledged that casualties were recorded. According to him, security operatives from neighbouring Niger Republic, who were on patrol, reported seeing members of the Lakurawa group fleeing the location after the strike.
