One of the missiles fired by America landed on a farm in Jabo village, Tambuwal, Sokoto, but thankfully it did not hit anyone.
An explosive device detonated in Jabo town, Sokoto State, on Thursday night, causing residents to flee their homes. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., creating significant tension in the area less than two hours before U.S. President Donald Trump announced a major military operation against terrorists in Nigeria’s North West region.
An eyewitness, Attahiru Madawaki Jabo, described the event: “I was at home when we heard a loud sound which shook some of our houses. Immediately the explosive object hit the ground at the outskirt of Jabo town, it burst into fire.” Soldiers from a nearby checkpoint quickly cordoned off the area following the blast.
The soldiers recovered the scattered parts of the device and removed them to their base. Due to fears of another explosion, many residents refused to return to their homes following the unsettling incident, which remains unexplained by authorities.
It is unclear if the explosion in Jabo is linked to the U.S. operation announced by President Trump, as he provided no specific details. As of press time, the Nigerian government had not issued any official statement on the Sokoto blast or commented on the announced U.S. military action.
