Former presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad claimed on Wednesday that authorities have ordered American missionary Alex Barbir to leave Nigeria following allegations of inciting religious discord. In a post shared via social media, Ahmad labeled Barbir a “hate monger” and asserted that since his arrival, “he has been attempting to ignite religious tensions, particularly in communities he visited across the North Central region.”
Emphasizing the need to protect national stability, Ahmad noted that “our nation’s peace and unity must never be compromised and anyone found promoting division should be held accountable.” While official government confirmation of the expulsion order remains pending, Ahmad maintained that a “reliable source” confirmed the directive.
