United States Congressman Riley M. Moore has raised concern after visiting Benue State, saying more than 600,000 displaced Christians are now living in IDP camps. Moore, who represents West Virginia’s 2nd District, said he met with “dozens of Christians who were driven from their homes and subjected to horrific violence.” He described their testimonies as harrowing and said they would remain with him “for the rest of my life.”
In posts shared on his X handle, Moore detailed accounts of extreme brutality, including a woman forced to watch the killing of her husband and five children and another survivor whose baby was “ripped… from her womb.” He said a man he met had his family “hacked to death.” Moore condemned the “genocidal violence” and urged international attention to the humanitarian crisis in Benue’s overcrowded camps, amid long-standing attacks on rural communities.
