True owner of viral cancer report speaks out against Blessing CEO

Makeup artist and cancer survivor Deborah Mbara has broken her silence, describing the unauthorized alteration and use of her private 2025 medical report by influencer Blessing CEO as a “traumatic” experience.

Deborah Mbara, a makeup artist and cancer survivor, has officially addressed the viral controversy involving social media influencer Blessing Okoro, known as Blessing CEO, alleging that her private medical records were stolen and manipulated. In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Mbara described the unauthorized use of her 2025 histology report as a “traumatic” experience. Her statement follows a formal investigation by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State Branch, which confirmed that the document paraded by the influencer as proof of a “Stage 4” diagnosis was actually an altered version of Mbara’s original result. “Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State and did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro,” the NMA statement signed by Chairman Israel Adaigho and Secretary Usamah Hannah clarified.

The controversy originated from a May 9, 2025, diagnostic test conducted at Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba, which had been ordered by a private hospital to confirm Mbara’s breast cancer status. The NMA revealed that the facility’s proprietor, consultant pathologist O.A. Odigwe, flagged the forgery after the influencer’s version went viral. According to the medical body, the legitimate report was issued directly to the referring doctor for the actual patient, Mbara, and not to Okoro. “The test was done and the result issued to the referring doctor as a case of breast cancer on the 9th of May, 2025,” the statement noted, adding that the authentic document—bearing Mbara’s name—had already been released online by the law firm Allen Juris Law to set the record straight.

The fallout from the incident has sparked widespread condemnation of the influencer’s tactics, with Mbara receiving significant public support for coming forward. The NMA reiterated that the original version made available by the legal firm is the only valid document associated with that specific laboratory reference. “A copy of that result is the one being circulated online by the law firm, with the name Mbara Deborah as the patient,” the statement said. “The result online from the law firm is the original version issued to the patient through her hospital.” As the Delta State medical community rallies behind Mbara, legal experts suggest that the unauthorized alteration and dissemination of private medical data could lead to severe civil and criminal repercussions for those involved.
