Reno Omokri supports DDG’s claim that Nigeria is safer than the US

Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has weighed in on safety debates after American rapper Darryl Dwayne Jr., known as DDG, said Nigeria is not as dangerous as the United States. Reacting on social media on Friday, Omokri responded to a viral video of the rapper speaking during a visit to Lagos, where he dismissed claims that Nigeria is extremely unsafe.

“I think America is the most dangerous country there is, to be honest. I don’t think Nigeria is as dangerous as America, nowhere near,” DDG said, noting that while robbery occurs in Nigeria, gun violence is more frequent in the US. Responding, Omokri criticised Nigerians who portray the country negatively online despite lacking overseas experience, asking, “Now, who should the world believe, between you, with mono vision, and DDG, with dual vision?”

Omokri cited other foreign celebrities, including Chris Brown, Ciara, Mark Zuckerberg, 50 Cent and Kanye West, who have spoken positively about Nigeria after visiting. He also faulted online reactions to the recent Anthony Joshua road accident, urging Nigerians to avoid spreading unverified claims. “Please be patriotic and wait for an official statement before hastily crucifying Nigeria,” he added.
