Primate Ayodele: I didn’t ask Adelabu for money — he said he’d give anything to become Oyo governor

Primate Elijah Ayodele, head of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has denied allegations of extorting Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu. TheCable previously reported Adelabu’s petition to the DSS, accusing Ayodele of demanding N150 million and expensive spiritual items in exchange for “intercession” to help him become governor of Oyo State. Adelabu also claimed Ayodele made false prophecies when he refused to comply.

Ayodele, through his media aide Osho Oluwatosin, said he never asked Adelabu for money but provided cost details for musical instruments upon the minister’s request. “I didn’t ask Bayo Adelabu to bring money for prayers. I told him to ask someone from his end to go to the market and find out how much the said trumpet cost,” Ayodele explained, insisting the instruments were for spiritual purposes, not for his church.

The cleric added that Adelabu sought him out due to his desperation to secure the governorship. “He went as far as saying he was willing to give anything to become the next governor of Oyo State, and the only thing I told him was to get the trumpets for his own good,” Ayodele said. He maintained that his prophecies about Adelabu were never linked to monetary gain.
