Police clear Senator Abbo of rape allegation against minor

The Nigerian Police have cleared former Adamawa North senator, Ishaku Abbo, of an alleged rape of a minor, saying investigations found no credible evidence. Police said the probe, ordered by the Inspector-General of Police after a 2025 petition, involved multiple specialised units and concluded that essential elements of the offence were lacking due to delays in reporting and insufficient supporting evidence.

According to the police report, medical findings showed the alleged survivor’s hymen was not breached, while witnesses present at the residence denied any rape occurred. Searches and forensic efforts yielded no incriminating material. Abbo, reacting briefly, said, “God will expose all evil plans against me and reward the doers according to their deeds.”
