The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, after a viral video showed him driving recklessly and crashing his car during a live-stream on December 14, 2025. The police described his actions as posing a serious threat to public safety. SP Abimbola Adebisi said the arrest followed public outrage over the dangerous incident.
“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained, for further investigation, Habeeb Hamzat aka ‘PELLER’, subsequent to the viral video… endangering his life and that of other road users,” the statement partly read. The command added that his actions could have been fatal and constituted “a deliberate attempt to commit suicide.” The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, warned social media influencers and the public against using online platforms to promote reckless or unlawful acts. “Such lawlessness will not be tolerated, and the full weight of the law will be applied on any offender,” he said, urging compliance with traffic regulations. The incident has reignited debates on risky stunts by content creators and calls for stricter enforcement on Lagos roads.
