The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said political power is earned through strength and strategy, insisting that Obio/Akpor Local Government Area remains a decisive force in Rivers State politics. Speaking during a thank-you visit on Sunday, Wike dismissed calls for his removal, stressing that only the President has the authority to sack him.
“There is no sentiment, there is no emotion. Politics is an interest; the interest of your people. Power is not given; we struggle for it,” Wike said, adding that Obio/Akpor has historically determined key electoral outcomes in the state. He warned critics to expect political consequences at the polls, insisting votes would be used to “punish” those who undermine the area.
