The Kebbi State Government spent more on Religious Affairs than on Water Resources, Rural and Community Development, Women Affairs and Higher Education in 2025, an analysis by FIJ has shown. The findings are based on the state’s third-quarter budget performance report reviewed on Monday, which also revealed that no funds were released to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

According to the document, the Ministry of Religious Affairs received N1.5 billion for capital projects, representing 52.2 per cent of its allocation. In contrast, the Ministry of Water Resources got only N86 million, reflecting a 1.1 per cent performance rate, while Rural and Community Development received N248 million, or nine per cent of its budget.

FIJ further found that Higher Education received N969 million, amounting to a 10.7 per cent performance rate, while Women Affairs got N657 million from its N5 billion allocation. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, with a budget of N2.6 billion, recorded zero disbursement, as the performance document shows it is yet to receive any funding.
