Japan: Aomori coast hit by 6.7 magnitude quake

Friday’s 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Japan, causing small tsunami waves but no damage or injuries. This followed a 7.5 magnitude quake earlier in the week off Aomori prefecture.

The Monday quake injured 34 and damaged infrastructure, prompting a megaquake advisory for Japan. No tsunami alerts were issued for the U.S. West Coast or Hawaii on Friday.
