Ghana has withdrawn from the London-based Africa Energies Summit to protest the systemic exclusion and marginalization of African professionals from the leadership and organization of international energy forums.
Ghana has officially withdrawn from the upcoming Africa Energies Summit in London, joining a growing continental boycott led by Energy Chamber Ghana to protest the “discrimination, exclusion and the marginalisation of African stakeholders” in global energy dialogues. Following similar withdrawals by Mozambique and members of the African Petroleum Producers Organization, the Chamber urged a total boycott by Ghanaian policymakers and investors until organizers, Frontier Energy Network, take “corrective action” to address the sidelining of African professionals.
Executive Chairman Joshua B. Narh emphasized that “Ghana is not a spectator in Africa’s energy story” and “Africa cannot be treated as a marketplace for attendance while Africans are treated as optional participants in execution,” asserting that “platforms that carry Africa’s name must reflect Africa’s people” and demanding that “conferences built on African participation not exclude African professionals from meaningful roles behind the scenes.”
