Suspected bandits on Tuesday night attacked personnel of the National Park Service (NPS) in Oloka village, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, leaving several officers reportedly killed or injured. The attack, which occurred around 9:00 pm on January 6, 2026, was said to have caught the NPS personnel off guard, although the exact number of casualties has yet to be confirmed.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said unidentified gunmen carried out the attack on the National Park personnel. He added that the Commissioner of Police and other security chiefs were already en route to the area to assess the situation and coordinate a response.
