Dangote Petroleum Refinery has denied media reports suggesting it is shutting down operations for maintenance, describing the claims as false and misleading. In a statement on Monday, the refinery affirmed that production remains stable and uninterrupted, assuring the market of a continuous supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). It added that it retains the capacity to supply between 40 million and 50 million litres of PMS daily through January and February, depending solely on market demand. On January 4, the refinery reported producing 50 million litres of PMS and evacuating 48 million litres, with current stock levels sufficient to meet more than 20 days of national consumption.
The refinery also clarified that routine maintenance on specific units does not halt overall production due to the integrated design of its facilities. While units such as the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) may undergo maintenance, other critical processing units, including the Naphtha Hydrotreater, Continuous Catalyst Regeneration (CCR) Reformer, and Hydrocracker, remain operational, producing PMS, Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel), and Jet A-1. This, it said, dispels concerns over potential supply disruptions.
