Canada will increase permanent residence and citizenship application fees for Nigerians and other foreigners from April 30, 2026, citing inflation and program costs.
The Government of Canada has raised application fees for permanent residence and citizenship for Nigerians and other foreign nationals. “Starting April 30, 2026, fees for permanent resident applications will increase as part of a routine update,” IRCC stated. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee rises by $25 to $600, while citizenship fees increase 2.7% to $123 from March 31, 2026.
IRCC said the hike aims to maintain timely services and keep pace with inflation. Fee changes include the Provincial Nominee Programme (up $40 to $990) and Business Class (up $85 to $1,895). “Applications received on or after April 30 will be subject to the new fees,” the agency confirmed. Adjustments occur every two years under Canadian regulations.
