Bayelsa Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo collapsed in his office on Thursday and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, where he is now stable in the ICU following a suspected cardiac emergency.

Tension gripped the Bayelsa State capital after Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo reportedly collapsed in his office around 1:30 pm on Thursday. Eyewitnesses described his condition as serious when he was rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa. The Deputy Governor is currently stabilized and receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Security has cordoned off the hospital as top government officials visit.

While no official statement has been released on the cause, sources suggest a possible cardiac emergency, noting his grueling workload.
