Atiku Abubakar has denied rumours that he is quitting politics, describing the claim as false and part of a coordinated disinformation campaign.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied reports that he has stepped aside from active politics, describing the claim as false and misleading. In a statement shared on X by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku dismissed social media reports suggesting he had decided to retire after meeting stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress.
“We wish to state, for the record, that information circulating on social media about a purported meeting of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, with stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress, in which the former Vice President allegedly decided to ‘step aside and retire from active politics,’ is entirely false and deliberately misleading,” the statement said.
The former Vice President of Nigeria insisted that any decision to exit politics would be formally communicated through his media office. He alleged the claim was part of a coordinated attempt to mislead the public, stating, “This latest falsehood bears all the hallmarks of a coordinated disinformation campaign designed to create confusion.”
