Artisans Storm Lagos Assembly Over Hoodlums’ Attack on Mechanic Village
Workers at the mechanic village in Egbeda, Idimu, under the Egbeda–Idimu CDA, staged a protest over what they described as continuous harassment by the community chairman. The mechanics claimed the land legally belongs to them, citing court documents, and alleged that they have been repeatedly chased away from their workplaces, disrupting their daily businesses.
They called on the government to intervene and allow them continue operating on the land. However, the chairman, who was also contacted, said the location falls on a pipeline and under a power line, making it unsuitable. He further alleged that some of the mechanics sold parts of the land to individuals for residential purposes, contrary to its designated use.
