Nigeria’s Super Eagles advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a convincing 2-0 victory over Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday. The result sets up a last-four clash with hosts Morocco, who defeated Cameroon in their quarter-final encounter. Coming off a 4-0 win over Mozambique in the Round of 16, the Eagles continued their impressive scoring run, extending their tournament-high tally to 14 goals, while Algeria entered the tie unbeaten and having conceded just once in four matches.
Nigeria dominated proceedings from the opening whistle, controlling possession and pressing high, with Victor Osimhen leading the attack alongside Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams, while Alex Iwobi dictated play in midfield. After several missed chances in the first half, the breakthrough came in the second period when Osimhen powered home a header to put Nigeria ahead, before Akor Adams doubled the advantage following an assist from Osimhen. Wilfred Ndidi anchored the midfield to stifle Algerian threats, and despite late substitutions by Algeria, the Super Eagles maintained their composure to seal the win and book a semi-final showdown against Morocco.
