NNPP begs Gov Yusuf not to join APC: “For the sake of Allah, don’t defect”

The New Nigerian Peoples Party has appealed to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf not to defect to the All Progressives Congress, amid rising speculation of a possible political shift ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kano NNPP Chairman, Suleiman Dungurawa, made the appeal at a press briefing on Monday, saying the party does not approve of any move to join the APC.

He said, “On behalf of all of us collectively, we once again appeal to them, for the sake of Allah and the Prophet, not to leave this party and not to defect to the party that we have opposed and which the masses and other voters have rejected.”

Dungurawa denied reports of internal conflict aimed at creating tension between Governor Yusuf and the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, urging residents to remain calm.

He warned members against signing documents allegedly circulated by “mischief makers,” insisting that neither the state nor national leadership endorses defection.

This follows earlier claims by a state official, who said some citizens and voters wanted Yusuf and Kwankwaso to join the APC from the NNPP.
