Rogo: Kano residents endorse Kwankwaso, governor’s move to APC

A senior Kano State official has announced plans for key political figures to switch parties. Abdullahi Rogo, Director-General of the Protocol Directorate at the state government house, claimed that citizens and voters have agreed that former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and current Governor Abba Yusuf should leave the New Nigeria People’s Party for the All Progressives Congress.

Rogo made the announcement in a video circulated by Arewa Update on Sunday. The protocol director stated that the proposed defection follows discussions with legislative leaders. “After our meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other members of Kwankwasiyya, we agreed that Kwankwaso and Kano State Governor Abba K. Yusuf should join the APC,” he said.

The announcement represents a significant potential political realignment in Kano State. Both Kwankwaso and Yusuf are prominent NNPP figures, and their departure would mark a major shift in the state’s political landscape. Neither politician has publicly confirmed the planned defection.
