Nigeria’s passport slipped to 90th globally in the latest Henley Passport Index, but its holders can still access 44 countries without a prior visa.

Nigeria’s passport dropped one spot on the global rankings — but don’t panic, travellers. According to Punch, the July 2026 Henley Passport Index still gives Nigeria a visa-free score of 44, meaning holders can access that many destinations via visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, or e-visa.
The country now sits 90th out of 199 nations ranked, down from 89th in April, though the underlying score hasn’t changed. Nigeria has still climbed steadily from 103rd in 2021 and 94th in 2025.
