60-year-old man dies in Jigawa hotel room shortly after checking in with 20-year-old lady

Jigawa State Police have launched an investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man who checked into a hotel in Dutse with a 20-year-old lady and died shortly after requesting a meal, with police recovering suspected sexual enhancement substances and other items from the scene.

A routine hotel check-in ended in death — and Jigawa State Police want to know exactly why.

Police operatives in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, have commenced an investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man who checked into a hotel facility alongside a 20-year-old lady on Tuesday. The man’s name has been withheld.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Jigawa Police Command Spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, the deceased developed a medical emergency shortly after checking in and requesting a meal. Officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded to a distress call and evacuated him to the General Hospital Dutse, where medical personnel certified him dead on arrival.

What investigators found at the scene added layers of complexity to an already delicate case. As reported by PM News, police detectives secured the room and conducted a preliminary examination, recovering food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and various personal effects — all taken away for further forensic examination.

SP Shiisu stated: “All necessary procedures were observed to preserve relevant exhibits and facilitate a comprehensive investigation.”

The command confirmed that following medical certification of death and completion of necessary procedures, the remains of the deceased were released to his family for burial in line with their request.

The 20-year-old lady who accompanied the deceased to the hotel is part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been publicly announced and no cause of death has been formally established pending the outcome of the full investigation.

The Jigawa Police Command says the probe is active and continuing.
