The Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum announced it has withdrawn support for the APC and will back the ADC in future elections, citing governance concerns, voter apathy and growing socio-economic challenges.
The Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum has withdrawn its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared its backing for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of future elections, following a strategic meeting at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. The forum, in a statement signed by its President, Akin Malaolu, accused the APC of “gangster governance” across federal, state and local levels, saying such leadership had weakened public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic system.
The group cited low voter turnout in recent Federal Capital Territory council elections as evidence of rising voter apathy and declining trust in democracy, while also raising concerns about Nigeria’s international image, economic pressures, insecurity and food security challenges under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Yoruba Ronu said it would work with the ADC on policy direction, advisory support and joint campaign strategies to mobilise voters across the Southwest, describing the party as a credible alternative platform.
