Governor Umo Eno has criticised a contractor for beginning construction of Ekpene Udo General Hospital with a mortuary, describing the decision as inappropriate.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, on Tuesday expressed displeasure with a contractor for commencing the construction of Ekpene Udo General Hospital with a mortuary facility. In a video of the inspection, the governor was seen questioning the expatriate contractor at the project site over the decision to prioritise the mortuary in the hospital’s construction sequence.
“Why did you start mortuary first, why mortuary, I say build hospital you started with mortuary, don’t say that kind of a thing again, don’t show me mortuary,” Eno told the contractor during the inspection. The governor’s remarks underscored his concerns about the planning and execution of the project.
Eno also visited other key infrastructure projects across the state, including the Ikot Ekpene Udo Bridge and the Oron Marine Jetty, as part of efforts to monitor ongoing government-funded developments. During the tour, he said the projects were designed to serve the public interest, stressing that they belong to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
