VIDEO: Trump issues threat to Colombian president after Venezuela invasion

United States President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Colombian President Gustavo Petro, cautioning him to “watch his a**” or risk military action, following reports of a US-led operation in Venezuela. Trump made the remarks during a press interaction at his Mar-a-Lago resort, hours after American forces reportedly carried out an early morning raid in Venezuela that resulted in the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro. A video of Trump’s comments was shared on Saturday by BRICS News via X (formerly Twitter).

Responding to questions about his earlier remarks directed at the Colombian leader, Trump accused Petro of presiding over cocaine production facilities allegedly supplying drugs to the United States. He said he stood by his comments, alleging that Colombia was involved in the manufacture and trafficking of cocaine into the US. Trump’s remarks came amid heightened regional tensions following the reported US military action in Venezuela. Earlier on Saturday, President Petro had taken to his X account to condemn what he described as an American invasion of Venezuela, warning that such actions threatened regional stability and international law. The developments have sparked concern across Latin America, as political leaders and observers warn that escalating rhetoric and military actions could further destabilise the region and strain diplomatic relations between the United States and South American nations.
