The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has named 79 Nigerians among convicted foreign nationals prioritised for deportation under a renewed immigration enforcement drive.
The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced plans to deport at least 79 Nigerians listed on its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register, according to a notice published on the department’s official website. The move forms part of renewed efforts to prioritise the removal of foreign nationals with serious criminal convictions.
According to DHS, those listed are convicted criminal aliens arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prioritised for deportation. “The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by ICE,” the department said, adding that the exercise aligns with President Trump’s deportation pledge.
DHS has not disclosed a timeline for the deportations. The action follows broader immigration measures, including tighter visa rules and increased screening, as U.S. authorities intensify enforcement focused on public safety and national security, particularly against offenders described as “the worst of the worst.”
