United States Congressman Rep Riley Moore has vowed that the U.S. will continue military actions and airstrikes in Nigeria until terrorist enclaves are eliminated. Moore made the pledge in a post on his verified X account on Monday, dismissing claims that President Donald Trump’s actions would lead to war. He said more airstrikes are expected and are aimed at restoring peace and security.
Moore said Trump was not bringing war to Nigeria but security, particularly for Christians facing violence. “The strikes against ISIS on Christmas, in coordination with the Nigerian government, have given hope to the Christians in Nigeria,” he wrote. He added that the recent U.S. strikes had renewed hope in vulnerable communities affected by terrorism.
Speaking on Fox News, Moore described what he said was widespread violence against Christians, claiming, “Christians have been getting slaughtered in Nigeria since 2009.” He said his recent visit and report to Trump informed the Christmas Day airstrikes, adding, “This is just a first step. There are many more to come.”
