Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Arise TV anchor, Rufai Oseni, clashed during a live broadcast of The Morning Show, sparking widespread reactions online.
Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, clashed live on The Morning Show on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The exchange began when Oseni questioned Umahi about the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway and reports that the minister had complained about him to President Bola Tinubu.
Visibly irritated, Umahi interrupted, saying, “You are too small for me to report to the President. Stop saying I reported you to the President — you’re too small.”
As tensions rose, Oseni queried Umahi’s credentials, prompting another sharp response: “Keep quiet. You don’t understand anything.” Co-anchors Toyosi Etim-Effiong and Ayo Mairo-Ese intervened to restore order.
Clips of the confrontation trended online, dividing public opinion. While some criticized Umahi’s tone, others accused Oseni of being disrespectful. Neither Umahi nor the Ministry of Works has commented. The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway remains a subject of national debate.
