A U.S. official says Ukraine has agreed to a peace deal that would end the war with Russia, with negotiations involving U.S., Ukrainian, and Russian officials progressing despite ongoing deadly strikes on Kyiv.
Ukraine has agreed to a peace deal aimed at ending its nearly four-year war with Russia, according to a U.S. official who told Fox News that only minor details remain to be resolved. The move follows intensive talks in Abu Dhabi involving U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll’s team and Russian officials, as well as consultations with Ukrainian representatives.
The diplomatic push comes after the leak of a 28-point peace plan that critics said was initially too favorable to Russia, prompting revisions involving Secretary of State Marco Rubio and European officials.
Ukraine’s agreement was announced hours after deadly overnight Russian strikes on Kyiv, which killed at least six people and injured 13.
Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, confirmed that Ukrainian and U.S. delegations reached “a common understanding on the core terms,” praised President Trump’s efforts to end the conflict, and said Kyiv expects President Zelenskyy to visit the U.S. soon to finalise the deal.
