The UK Labour Party’s National Executive Committee will ban transgender women from its 2026 Women’s Conference. The decision follows a legal review prompted by a Supreme Court ruling clarifying the definition of sex in the Equality Act.
The policy has drawn sharp criticism from the group Labour for Trans Rights. Baroness Falkner, the former head of the EHRC, also accused the party of abandoning its commitment to women’s rights and failing vulnerable women and girls.
